maid cafe
poster advertising maid cafe in Akiba (district of cosplayers) where the service staff dress as maids. Compared with regular cafes, maid cafes try to creat the world where client is a masters rather than mere customer. That's why when entering maid cafe we will be welcomed with an extraordinarily humble greeting and our drinks will be served by kneeling maids. On the menu besides the drinks one can find ear cleaning, hand and foot massage, photo session with the maids posing the way the customer wants, playing video game with favourite maid and more. Very recently there has been the first maid cafe outside Japan opened in San Francisco.

capsule hotel
another 'only in Japan' are capsule hotels found mostly next to the railway stations for those who missed the last train home. majority of guests are salarymen who lingered too long at the company obligatory party, got too drunk and did not make it on time. apart from the tiny place to sleep they can get shower, fresh shirt, socks and tie.
