There's this saying in Japanese: dont say it's good before you see Nikko (know in the Western world thru the image of three monkeys). A must see even if it's not on Lonely Planet travellers' ranking.
In April, cherry blossom brings in spring, while in October momiji, known as the Japanese maple, announces autumn has come. Crowds hem around each tree to take millions of pictures and the restaurants serve food on plates with maple trees decor garnished with ripening leaves.
