It is said that the best way to enjoy the flavor of noodles is sucking the small portions all the way in and swallowing them without chewing. But you cannot be considered a connoisseur of Japanese food unless you learn how to slurp. And what is considered rude in Western world is the aesthetic way of eating in Japan.

In April, cherry blossom brings in spring, while in October momiji, known as the Japanese maple, announces autumn has come. Crowds hem around each tree to take millions of pictures and the restaurants serve food on plates with maple trees decor garnished with ripening leaves.

A springtime craze of cherry flower viewing. As the blossoms last only a week or two and starts at different dates in different parts of Japan each year the weather bureau announces blossom forecast. Today flower viewing consists mostly of having an outdoor party beneath the cherry with loads of buzz.
